After a semester of deconstructing and then reconstructing preconceived ideas of music, students in our Experimental Music at UNC Asheville class delivered a stellar final concert. Co-taught by me, Dr. Wayne Kirby and Black Mountain College Legacy Fellow, Jonathon Keats, the class built upon the revolutionary work of John Cage by expanding music to include not just audible waveforms but also infrasound, ultrasound, as well as gamma rays, gravitational waves, and light spectra. The concert featured original instruments and compositions constructed in our STEAM and Moog Studios, and was one for the history books, as you can see here.
