Great time at the American Musicological Society annual meeting in San Antonio. Heard some moving papers and got to catch up with some old friends. Moderated a panel called "Jazz Perspectives" that featured talks on the tragically unheralded Julius Eastman, phenomenology of sound in Ellington's "Daybreak Express," and an explanation of geographies of sound in the Fort Worth Western Swing scene.
